I am so pleased and grateful that Vermin won the new Short Story Collection Award at the Alberta Literary Awards Gala in Edmonton on Saturday, June 11th. It is truly an honour to be the first recipient of this award; many thanks to the jury and to the Writers’ Guild of Alberta, not only for supporting this award but for supporting my writing since I became a member in 1999.
It was also wonderful to gather with writer friends again, to see them in person and catch up, and to celebrate the fine writing that Albertans produce. Congratulations to all the shortlisted authors, and to everyone who keeps at their writing. It’s not easy to come back to it day after day, I know.
