Thanks to FreeFall Magazine and writer Kathryn Shalley for the review of Vermin which is in the current issue of FreeFall and is on their blog, here. My work has appeared in FreeFall several times over the years, including “Dominion”, the opening story of the collection, and I think Calgary writers are very fortunate to have such a great magazine that supports local writers here in our community.
I am so pleased to find that Vermin is a finalist for a High Plains Book Award in the Short Story category, along with Dear Hearts by my friend Barbara Miller Biles, and If Sylvie Had Nine Lives by Saskatoon author Leona Theis. What good company I am in, and I am so honoured to be included with all the other finalists in all categories. Winners are announced in late September.
